Press Releases

The College Republican Federation of Virginia (CRFV) held its first board meeting of the year, under the new leadership of Chairman Lena Morrill. The board addressed the 2nd Vice Chair vacancy as well as completed the appointment process for various positions within Chairman Morrill’s administration. Timothy Ames Leong, a Liberty student, became 2nd Vice Chair. University of Virginia’s Graham Tribble was appointed to Executive Director of the CRFV. Lexy Rusnak, a student at Virginia Tech, is now Political Director. Communications Director is now Will Clements, from the College of William & Mary.

In an effort to create more communications and working relationships between the CRFV and the Republican Party of Virginia, Chairman Morrill created regional political directors. Loren Monk, a student at University of Virginia became the Central Director. George Mason University student Kyle McDaniel now serves as Northern Virginia director.

Morrill commented, "I am very excited to bring on the new members in these many capacities. We have great plans in place for this year with chapter development programs and building a stronger relationship with all aspects of the Republican Party throughout the Commonwealth."

The Chapter Development and Fundraising Directors are vacant as well as the positions of Southeast and Southwest political directors. If there are students interested in being in a larger role within the federation, they can contact Chairman Morrill.

MCDONNELL FOR GOVERNOR HEADQUARTERS
MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD
OF THE COLLEGE REPUBLICAN FEDERATION
OF VIRGINIA AND ORGANIZATION DELEGATES
December 05, 2009
Issued December 10, 2009

During the annual College Republican Federation of Virginia Convention, Lena Morrill, the former chairperson at Sweet Briar College, was elected as the new chair along with other executive board members.  Willie Deutsch, from Patrick Henry College, was selected as First Vice Chair. Jadan Horyn, from Liberty University, became Second Vice Chair, after previously serving as Treasurer under former CRFV chair Kate Maxwell. Andrew Elgert, from James Madison University, is now Treasurer. Finally, John Michael King, from the College of William & Mary was elected as Secretary. "We are very excited to have a board that is from across the state, willing to work together to build the CRFV and our state party. CRs were a major part of the 2009 successes in Virginia and we look forward to having a very successful 2010 midterm election season," Morrill commented.

Over 75 people attended the convention with about 35 of those as Delegates. The positions of 1st and 2nd Vice chairmen were contested and decided by written vote. The positions of Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary were confirmed by a vote of affirmation. The afternoon was full of lively discussion and served as an opportunity for members of the College Republican Federation of Virginia to meet people across the Commonwealth. Before the vote took place, current Republican Party of Virginia Chairman, Pat Mullins, shared a few words with the attendees. He reminded them how important that the CRs were in the 2009 elections.

The new Executive Board is currently busy preparing for the new year. We are getting new chapters in place and holding appointments for individuals that will have crucial roles in this administration and opening new lines of communication between the CRs and people across the Commonwealth.

The CRFV Executive Committee is proud to announce the first Summer Volunteer Contest open to all College Republicans statewide. We have teamed up with the McDonnell Campaign to offer incentives for volunteers who are able to give 10 HOURS of work (door-knocking or phone-banking at a local Victory office) between now and August 1st.

Those who complete the most hours will be given individual prizes, including the opportunity to introduce our candidates at local rallies, free access to fundraisers and ticketed events, and much more! All volunteers who meet the minimum 10 hour requirement will be eligible to attend the First Annual CRFV Fall Kick-Off with Bob McDonnell at the end of summer. Music, food, and drinks will be provided, and all guests will have the opportunity to spend time with fellow College Republicans & enjoy a meet and greet with our future governor! A complimentary photo with Bob McDonnell will also be provided.

More details to be announced soon, and we are looking forward to providing a great time and a well-earned reward for our most dedicated volunteers.

To RSVP, send an email pledging to complete the 10 hour minimum requirement to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . • Loudoun County Democratic Chairman slams “extremist Cuccinelli and tea bagger friends”; promotes fellow Dem’s letter claiming Nazi flags predominate at gun shows
Wow. Loudoun County Democratic Committee Chairman Tim Buchholz slams “extremist” Senator Ken Cuccinelli and “his tea bagger friends” and promotes a Fairfax Democratic Committee member’s letter that talks about “Virginia’s shameful past,” saying Cuccinelli’s support for state’s rights translates to a pro-slavery platform. Buchholz endorses this view and misspells a word, saying the letter puts Cuccinelli [...]

  • Washington Times Endorses Ken Cuccinelli
Today the Washington Times endorsed Ken Cuccinelli for Attorney General.  It is one of the best cases for Ken Cuccinelli. State Sen. Ken Cuccinelli of Fairfax is the right candidate for attorney general of Virginia. He doesn’t speak in poll-tested sound bites or generalities, he doesn’t float with the political wind, and he takes on substantive [...]
